Providence Baptist Church was started in a tent near the old St. Catherine post office just north of our church. The Missionary Pastor was Johnny Sinclair from the First Baptist Church in Auburndale, who remained with the mission until it was organized into a church on March 12, 1950 with 33 chartered members.

Under the Leadership of Missionary Johnny Sinclair, the first main Auditorium was started and completed. Following him was W. Ervin Flanders the first man called to Pastor the established Church, naming it St. Catherine Missionary Baptist Church.

Over the next sixty five years the church has experience a lot of changes, physically as well as spiritually. After experiencing some of these changes; in 2010 the church leadership and members sensed the Lord wanting to take the church in a new direction. Under the leadership of our Pastor Dave Maddox, we changed our name from St. Catherine Missionary Baptist Church to Providence Baptist Church “Where God Provides”.

Providence Baptist Church is a church united in our purpose to provide God’s love, grow together in Christ, and serve others.
